Space Helper Explorer
This policy explains how this application handles information and how to contact us about privacy.
Information we process
Space Helper Explorer has no accounts. The app creates a random installation identifier and secret automatically. The secret is kept in the iPhone Keychain; on an unsigned development simulator where Keychain access is unavailable, it is kept in the app's local support folder instead. The server stores the identifier and a bcrypt hash of the secret, not the secret itself. When you use the app, it stores viewed and studied object identifiers, study dates, quiz question identifiers, answers marked correct or incorrect, and event identifiers for safe retry. The app keeps a local copy of catalog content and progress for offline use, plus your language and reminder settings. The server receives normal HTTP request information, including network address, time, requested path and technical error details, which may appear in Railway infrastructure logs. We do not ask for your name, email address or location.
How we use information
We use the installation credentials to keep each installation's progress separate and authorize its requests. We use viewed and studied objects to show your progress and select relevant quiz questions. Quiz results provide session feedback and progress totals. Event identifiers prevent an offline retry from recording the same action twice. The server provides localized catalog and quiz content and selects one object of the day by UTC date. Local reminder settings schedule an optional notification on your device. Technical request information is used to operate and troubleshoot the service.
Service providers and sharing
The app's server and PostgreSQL database run on Railway. Railway and the infrastructure providers it uses process stored records and service request logs to host and operate the service. We do not add advertising, analytics, social sign-in, email delivery, or data brokers, and we do not sell personal data. The optional daily reminder is a local iOS notification and does not require sending a notification token to the server.
Data retention
The app keeps its catalog cache and language and reminder preferences on your device until you change those settings or remove the app, subject to iOS storage behavior. Reset Progress clears the local progress file and replaces the current Keychain installation credential, or the local development-simulator credential, while leaving the catalog cache and preferences in place. Server progress and the installation credential hash remain while that installation uses the service. Resetting progress deletes the installation row and its linked viewed, studied, quiz and retry records from the live database. Public catalog content and daily selections are not tied to an installation. We do not set a fixed retention period for Railway's infrastructure logs or any provider-managed backup copies because that period depends on the provider's service configuration. Deleted live records may remain in such operational copies until those copies expire; we do not create a separate application backup of progress. During an unconfirmed deletion, local progress stays on the device until the retry succeeds; the app does not resume uploading queued progress for that installation.
Deleting your information
Use Reset Progress in Settings to remove the installation's server progress and credential record and clear its local progress; the app creates a new random installation credential if you continue using it. Removing the app clears its ordinary local app data under iOS behavior, but an app uninstall alone cannot tell the server to delete data and Keychain items may persist under iOS behavior. If you cannot use the reset control, contact Herewald6Ashenford@icloud.com. We can help with data that can be identified from information you provide, but we cannot recover an installation secret that has been lost. If the server response cannot be confirmed, the app keeps the existing installation credential and local progress, blocks new progress synchronization, and retries the deletion when a connection returns; it clears and replaces those local records only after the server confirms deletion.
Permissions and your choices
The app may ask for notification permission only when you enable a daily object reminder. iOS delivers this reminder locally at the time you choose. You can withdraw notification permission in iPhone Settings or turn the reminder off in the app. The app does not request location, contacts, camera, microphone or photo library permission.
Your privacy rights
You can view your studied objects and quiz totals in the app and erase the installation's progress with Reset Progress. For questions or requests about your data, email Herewald6Ashenford@icloud.com. Because there is no account and the server does not store a name or email address, we may need the installation identifier or other information you choose to provide to locate a record; we cannot identify records from a lost secret alone. Rights available under applicable law may vary by location.
Security
The app uses HTTPS for the public service. Private progress requests require a random installation secret, which is stored in the iPhone Keychain and checked against a bcrypt hash on the server. An unsigned development simulator without Keychain access stores its secret in the app's local support folder; this fallback is unavailable on an iPhone. Only the backend holds database credentials, and the server limits access to records for the verified installation. No security measure can guarantee absolute protection. Keep your device protected and do not share its installation secret.
Children’s privacy
Space Helper Explorer is educational content intended for people aged 12 and older. It does not require an account, collect a child's name or email address, or use advertising or analytics. A parent or guardian can use the in-app reset control to remove an installation's progress and may contact Herewald6Ashenford@icloud.com about privacy questions.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the app, hosting or data practices change. The current policy and its effective date will be posted at this page. Material changes will be reflected here before or when the changed practice begins. Privacy questions may be sent to Herewald6Ashenford@icloud.com.
